Opening of the "Between Lithuania and France. The Two Worlds of Count Tiškevičius in 19th Century Photography" exhibition. Phot. E. Tamošiūnas

22 November at The Musée Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône, France, opened the exhibition of Benedict Henrik Tiškevičius’ photographs from the 1910s “Between Lithuania and France. The Two Worlds of Count Tiškevičius in 19th Century Photography”, which is part of the Saison de la Lituanie en France 2024 programme. The exhibition will run until 19 January 2025.

The opening event, which was attended not only by a large French audience, but also by guests from Poland and Spain, repeatedly evoked the idea of the unifying power of Count Tiškevičius’ work and personality. It is remarkable what a large international community of museums, researchers, collectors, cultural organisers and photography enthusiasts has been brought together by this creator, who is regarded as one of their own by Lithuanians, French, Poles and Belarusians.

This is yet another comprehensive presentation of the work of B.H. Tiškevičius, which has been made possible by the collaboration of our partners and collaborators: Šiauliai Aušra Museum, Kaunas District Museum and Musée Nicéphore Niépce, together with curators Audrey Lebeault, Emmanuelle Vieillard and Dr. Dainius Junevičius.
